How important is Jesus?
By almost any measure, Jesus' temporal life was a failure. He died young. the last of his clothes were raffled off by the Roman guards. He was unable to support his widowed mother. his teaching was rejected by the religious authorities. he received a death sentence from his own people, and his small band of followers had scattered to the four winds. he left no writings of oranizational structure behind. he never traveled farther than 70 miles from his hometown, and was unknown outside of that small corner of the world. from all appearances the new kingdom jesus talked about was going to die with him. by temporal leadership standards, jesus was a failure.
however, from the perspective of 2000 years later, he is the most influential man who ever lived. Which raises an improtant question:
how do you measure success?
